Oxfordshire Railfreight Limited have just announced that their Statutory Public Consultation starts from 23rd September. With that, it runs concurrently with two other major consultations in the same small area: Heyford Park and Puy du Fou.
What is the consultation for?
Earlier this summer we wrote a post explaining what the OxSRFI project is – you can read it here. In short, OXsRFI is a is a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project or NSIP to build rail freight interchange near Ardley, just off the M40. And yes, it is wedged between Heyford Park and Puy du Fou’s proposed sites.

As an NSIP OxSRFI falls under the Planning Inspectorate, not the local authority, Cherwell District Council.
The government is consulting on this project, and it ultimately decides whether and how this project goes ahead. You won’t find OxSRFI on Cherwell District Council’s planning portal for that reason.
What is the consultation about?
The impact of this project will be very significant, not just locally, but into the wider area. There will be extensive remodelling and re-routing of local roads, M40 J10 and the A43; the visual impact will be very significant and as this will be a 24/7 operation, noise, light and other pollution are very likely to increase very significantly as well.

How to participate in the consultation
The consultation starts on 23rd September and you will be able to access it from the OXSRFI website from that date. There are some public events, too:
