Baynard’s Green warehousing consultation

Cherwell District Council are re-consulting on proposed warehousing at Baynard’s Green until 15th March 2025.

The plans are for two very large developments of warehousing to sit along the B4100 towards Stoke Lyne and Bicester, the A43 Baynard’s Green roundabout and the M40. The plans are expected to require significant investment in road infrastructure.

Fewcott is 750m south-west of the site and Fritwell is 1.2km to the west. Cherwell Valley motorway services and the Travelodge are within 100m of the southern boundary of the eastern site. Baynard’s Green Service Station is located approx. 100m north of the site boundary on the A43/B4100 roundabout junction. 

Issues with the proposals

This site is not allocated as employment land.  The land bordering the application site is slated to be designated as a Conservation Target Area in the revised Cherwell Local Plan 2042.

The Baynard’s Green junction is beyond capacity without these new developments: morning 160%, midday 92%, and evening 123% (Source: Evidence Appendices of the Cherwell Long-Term Plan 2042)

Traffic is likely to back up in all directions including the M40 southbound, where queues filtering onto J10 frequently cause hazardous conditions during peak times.

The deadline to respond to 21/03267/OUT has been extended to 23rd April 2025. Submit your comments to Cherwell District Council, who are currently consulting on the plans. You can do so by:

  1. Adding your comments to the Planning Portal, or

3. by phoning 01295 227006, or
