Designation notice – Changes to how planning applications can be submitted in the Cherwell District Council area.

You can read the Designation Notice here

What does this mean?

Major planning applications may still come to Cherwell DC, but it is likely that developers will choose to apply directly to the Planning Inspectorate for a decision, cutting out the need for those with local knowledge to play a part in the decision-making processes.

What does this mean for my area?

Huge local developments, including Puy Du Fou, Hawkwell and Heyford housing plans will be decided upon by the Government-appointed Planning Inspector, potentially removing any local knowledge from these crucial decisions.

What can you do?

  1. Email the Local MP, Calum Miller, to express your concern that planning decisions have been taken away from local councillors, people who know the challenges on local roads and services and how these developments will damage our wellbeing, wildlife and the environment. Contact details for Calum Miller
  2. Continue to submit objections to the multi-million tourist destination, Puy Du Fou, as per our last post. Your objections do count and you should have your say on what is built in your area: Planning Register 25/02232/OUT
