You cannot fail to have missed the deluge of planning proposals our area.
NORA is calling for the cumulative impact of these proposals to be considered and we continue to lobby Cherwell District Council, the County Council and our MP to take this seriously. Here is an overview of relevant, local, large scale developments that are under consideration at the time of writing.
- Warehouses at Baynards Green/A43/B4100 junction. These go to appeal in September, read more and find out how to have your say here: https://stokelyneactionteam.co.uk/
- Puy Du Fou (multi-million visitor destination ‘theme park’ outside Bucknell Village). Fresh concerns have arisen surrounding animal welfare – look out for our separate post on this. Until 5/9/2026, you can still object here: https://planningregister.cherwell.gov.uk/Planning/Display/25/02232/OUT
- Heyford Park – between 9 and 13 thousand homes with vaguely identified amenities such as schools, ‘community facilities’, ‘employment spaces’, and ‘expansive green infrastructure’, whatever that means! Now with fresh concerns over PFAS ‘forever chemicals’ found in streams and soil (up to 43,000 times the EU/UK environmental safe limit) it is an important to sign the Gallos Brook petition here: to pause development on contaminated land
- Hawkwell Village – A December 2021 planning application for 7,000 houses and amenities to be built between NW Bicester and the village of Bucknell. We continue to watch for updates to this one!
- OxSRFI Oxfordshire Strategic Rail Freight Interchange- preliminary meetings are being held from 29th September and we will be there to represent North Oxfordshire residents and our concerns about the cumulative impact of this development with all others planned for the area. Look out for a BBC news report next week and here is the project outline
