What has been happening?

1700 of you put your names forward in our petition, showing there is considerable concern about the cumulative impact of 13 developments within a 5 mile radius of Bicester. NORA were welcomed to a CDC meeting this week to present our report and ensure that councillors take notice.

CDC is duty bound to consider the cumulative impact of all of the potential developments and NOT to consider each individually.

• Depending on which traffic report you read, there are projected to be 47-61 million extra journeys across the road network. If you happened upon Baynards Green on the 4th/5th/6th July you will have seen the junction at its worst over the Silverstone weekend (although the junction is heavily over-capacity on a regular day too).
• We are now living with a hosepipe ban. Can you imagine the further strain on water if 13 developments were to go ahead?
• In the villages bordering the potential development sites, regular power cuts have happened during the warm weather – we simply do not have the infrastructure for this unprecedented level of development.

We have asked CDC to put in place a cumulative assessment of all proposed developments and a committee which reports back to the people of Cherwell in one, public-facing plan. All further planning considerations must be paused until this is in place.

What can you do?

Continue to raise awareness of the planned developments in the North Oxfordshire area, look out for stories presented on the BBC and email Councillor Lesley McLean, Leader of CDC (Lesley.McLean@cherwell.dc.gov.uk) and Councillor Chris Aramini-Brant, Deputy Leader and Head of Planning & Enforcement (chris.aramini-brant@oxfordshire.gov.uk) to express your concerns.
